Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how this website handles information when you visit our independent NorthStar Bets review pages. We are an independent affiliate review site — we are not the operator, we do not run any casino or sportsbook, and you do not open a betting account, deposit funds, or play any game with us. Because of that, the personal information we handle is minimal, and this policy is written to align with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Independent affiliate review — we may earn a commission. 19+. Play responsibly.

This site is intended for adults aged 19+ in Canada, outside Ontario. It is not directed at minors, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 19. Please review this policy together with our Terms & Conditions.

What we collect

We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the site, understand how it is used, and improve our reviews. We do not ask you to register, and we do not host gambling accounts, deposits, or wagers.

The information that may be collected falls into two groups:

  • Information you choose to give us. If you choose to reach out to the site owner, you may provide details such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message. We use this only to respond to your enquiry and keep a record of the correspondence.
  • Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our server and analytics tools record technical data when you visit — for example your approximate region, IP address (often truncated or anonymised by our analytics provider), browser and device type, operating system, referring page, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. This is standard log and usage data, and on its own it does not identify you by name.

We do not collect payment-card numbers, banking details, government-ID documents, or know-your-customer (KYC) information on this site. Any registration, deposit, identity verification, or KYC check happens on the operator’s own platform, under the operator’s privacy policy, not ours. If you sign up with the operator through one of our links, the data you submit there is handled by the operator, and we never see your account credentials, deposits, or balances.

Cookies & analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, to remember basic preferences, and to measure traffic so we can see which reviews are useful. A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser; some are essential, and some are optional.

  • Essential cookies keep the site functioning, for example remembering that you have seen our cookie notice or 19+ age prompt.
  • Analytics cookies are set by a privacy-focused, Google-Analytics-style measurement tool. These help us understand aggregate behaviour — visitor counts, popular pages, traffic sources, and time on page — in a reporting form that does not single you out personally. We use this only to improve our content and the structure of the site.
  • Affiliate-tracking cookies. When you click an outbound link to the operator, such as a “Sign Up”, “Claim”, or “Visit Site” button, the affiliate network may set a cookie that records that the click came from this site. This is how the operator credits us with a referral and how we may earn a commission if you later open an account. The affiliate cookie is used for attribution and fraud-prevention; it gives us no access to your account, your deposits, your play history, or how much you win or lose. Our affiliate links carry rel="nofollow" (or rel="sponsored nofollow") and open in the current tab.

Managing cookies. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can refuse non-essential cookies. Most browsers let you block cookies or alert you before one is stored. Please note that disabling some cookies may affect how parts of the site work. You can also opt out of analytics measurement using your browser’s “Do Not Track” signal where supported, and many analytics providers offer their own opt-out tools.

How we use information & third parties

We use the limited information described above to operate and secure the site, respond to messages you send us, measure and improve our content, and track affiliate referrals so we are credited for traffic we send to operators. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles about you.

To run the site we rely on a small number of trusted third-party service providers, which may process technical or usage data on our behalf:

  • Hosting and content-delivery providers that serve the website and keep server logs for security and performance.
  • Web-analytics providers that produce the aggregate visitor reports described above.
  • Affiliate networks that record outbound clicks to operators for referral attribution.

These providers are only permitted to handle data for the purposes of delivering their service to us. Some of them may store or process information on servers located outside Canada; where that happens, the information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, and we take reasonable steps to use reputable providers that apply appropriate safeguards.

Third-party links

Our reviews link out to operators, software providers, licensing bodies, and responsible-gambling resources. Once you follow a link to the operator (for example the NorthStar Bets site, where you might claim the welcome offer) or to any other external website, you leave our site and are governed by that destination’s own privacy policy and terms. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the data practices, content, or security of third-party sites, including how the operator handles your registration, deposit, KYC, or play data. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit before sharing personal information. External (non-affiliate) links open in a new tab with rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer".

Your rights (PIPEDA)

Under PIPEDA you have rights over the personal information we hold about you. Because we collect so little, in most cases the only personal information we hold is any correspondence you have sent us. Subject to that, you may:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and ask how it has been used and to whom it may have been disclosed.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
  • Withdraw consent and ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to any legal or legitimate record-keeping obligations.
  • Opt out of analytics and non-essential cookies through your browser, as described above.

We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected (for example, to handle and follow up on your enquiry) or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymised. We apply reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the limited data we hold against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children & eligibility

Gambling content is for adults only. This site, and the operators we review, are intended for people who are 19+ and located in Canada, outside Ontario. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 19. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it. Please play responsibly. Gambling can be addictive, and free, confidential support is available through the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) and GameSense.

Changes to this policy & how to contact us

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our service providers, or the law. When we do, we will revise the policy on this page, so please check back from time to time. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.

If you have a question about this policy, want to exercise any of your PIPEDA rights, or wish to make a privacy complaint, please reach out to the site owner and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can. If you are not satisfied with our response, you also have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC).
